Description

A knockout Japanese Painted fern with pale-green, double-crested fronds contrasting with a stunning lilac stem. Full Description ‘Crested Surf’, a knockout Japanese Painted fern. What makes this taller 20–22" fern stand out are the lovely, unusual colors—the pale-green, double-crested fronds contrasting with a stunning lilac stem. Brings welcome texture and color to the shady middle border, and moist shady spots. FERN: A fern is any one of a group of about 12,000 species of plants. Unlike mosses they have xylem and phloem (making them vascular plants). They have stems, leaves, and roots like other vascular plants. Ferns do not have either seeds or flowers (they reproduce via spores). Hardy ferns grow best in moist, shady locations with soil high in organic matter. Their varied forms, sizes, and textures add interest to the garden. Highly variegated, green fronds are shaded with silver and highlighted with burgundy red. Colors become more intense with some morning of afternoon sun. Hardy in zones 3-9. Shade lover grows 14-18 inches tall.

I have ordered this product before. The first one was a real pleasure. I just got my second one. Some plants are well grown and were broken in transit. It does not appear to have much of a root base. Already there is one plant that is pure green fern, and another growing that I have no idea what it is or what it could be. I am very disappointed by the product that was sent to me.
